I fatti di questi giorni mi hanno ricordato un avvenimento di un bel pò di tempo fa, purtroppo sempre legato alla guerra, anche se oggi si parla più di missioni di pace o di ricostruzione, ovvero il 40esimo anniversario della fucilazione di protesta degli studenti alla Kent State University (4 Maggio 1970). A quel tempo, se non erro, si protestava contro l’invasione statunitense della Cambogia, quindi contro l’estendersi del conflitto in Vietnam (il 30 Aprile cadeva il 35esimo anniversario della fine della guerra). Non cederò alla tentazione di fare facili moralismi, poiché questo spazio è dedicato solo alla fotografia, ma vi ripropongo degli scatti dell’epoca che ben descrivono la drammaticità di certi conflitti e che ci servono per riflettere e per non dimenticare.

The events of recent days reminded me an event of a long time ago, unfortunately always tied to the war, even if today we speak more than peacekeeping or reconstruction, the 40th anniversary of the shooting of students at Kent State University (May 4, 1970). At that time they protesting against the U.S. invasion of Cambogia and against the spread of the conflict in Vietnam (April 30th was the 35th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War). I will not give in to the temptation to make easy moralizing, because this space is dedicated to photography, but i will show you some photo that well describe the drama of certain conflicts and that we need to reflect and remember.
